The beginning of MT Washi Tape

 

"The story of MT started when we encountered a book created.

An email we received in 2006 was the beginning of MT.  The email was from three women in Tokyo, who wished to visit our masking tape plant. A mini book of them showing masking tapes was outstanding. It was filled with fantastically designed features, transforming our concept that masking tape is a typical product only for industrial use. When they visited the plant, they asked us to make masking tapes of different new colors. To meet their request, the development of MT started."

After a lengthy process of trial and error, MT tape with twenty different colors, like a set of colored pencils was completed in 2008. Since then, it has become extremely well received. It has been used for different purposes, for stationery and daily life goods. Now, more than one hundred different colors and patterns are available as a popular series of tape. It has been sold in more than 20 countries in the world and throughout Japan. The worl of MT expands thrugh the collaboration of a Japanese representative apparel company and artists, as well as an english textile manufacturer.
